“Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you.”
We’ve heard this lots along the way.
when you’re in the “thick” of a crisis...it’s difficult to know (or say) what you need...
And it’s really hard to ask for yet more help. (cause pretty much every day you’re asking for something from someone.)
If I could offer one thing... ♡
rather than ask
”what can I do?” Just do.
Here’s some things people ‘just did’ for us.
(no pre-questions asked)
-cut our grass and cleared the snow (multiple times over multiple seasons)
-trimmed the hedges, weeded the gardens
-made us soup (home made, from scratch…..with love….kinda soup)
-came to just BE with us
-paid for the hotel (“miss, it looks like your bill has been paid.” Me: through a flood of tears...”wait? What do you mean. Really?”
-mailed a Starbucks card with a note ‘treat yourself. we love you.”
-dropped off groceries, and flowers and blankets and gift cards….and and… and….
-cleaned up after a tragically leaking roof mess
-painted the wall and bookshelves after said tragically leaking roof
-sent a card and a bundle of bills with a note (no strings attached!)
-delivered delicious food to the hospital while I was back home
-watered the plants
-looked after and walked Ben (day after week after month)
-sent ‘made for us…just because’ kinda gifts in the mail.
-paid a month’s rent for the apartment we lived in while away.
-had a barbecue to raise money for the costs of being ill away from your home
-packed up their harp on a freezing cold day to come play for John (cause he loves it so much.)
-there’s more…..and more… and more....
But for now I will stop and just say ....
Thank you for(not) asking...
oh my gosh it meant so much.
